Director Rohit Shetty discusses the future of Deepika Padukone's Lady Singham in his Cop Universe, hinting at an exciting standalone film that's still in its early stages.

Rohit Shetty recently gave an update on Deepika Padukone’s much-awaited standalone film as Lady Singham, following her character's debut in Singham Again. The filmmaker mentioned that while there is a concept for the movie, the script is yet to be written, and they are still exploring where they want to take the story. He hinted that the project would require time to fully shape up.

In a recent conversation with News18 Showsha, Rohit shared insights on why it took so long for a female cop to join his popular Cop Universe. He admitted that up until 2018, he wasn’t even certain there would be a shared universe connecting his cop films. It was during the making of Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar, that the idea of introducing a female cop came to him. However, Rohit emphasized that he waited until he had the right script, not wanting to rush such a significant addition to his franchise.

Talking about Deepika’s character, Shakti Shetty, Rohit explained that he has a basic outline of her personality and story arc but hasn’t yet fleshed out her entire journey as a writer or director. He assured that a solo film for Lady Singham is definitely in the pipeline and clarified that her introduction in Singham Again was a deliberate setup for her own story.
