Sky Force Star Akshay Kumar On Why Movies Are Underperforming

Akshay Kumar recently spoke about the reasons behind the decline in box-office success for many Indian films. The actor shared his hopes for his upcoming films and his desire for a stroke of luck to turn things around.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar shared his views on the challenges faced by Indian films in theaters, attributing the decline in their success to the growing popularity of OTT platforms. In a conversation with debutant Veer Pahariya, Akshay discussed their upcoming film Sky Force, which is based on the Indo-Pak aerial war of 1965.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Akshay reportedly explained that audience habits had changed significantly since the pandemic, with many preferring to watch films on digital platforms instead of theaters. He mentioned that people often told him they would wait for a movie to appear on OTT, which he believed was the main reason behind declining box office numbers. He emphasized that this shift in viewing habits had become common after Covid-19, turning OTT consumption into a routine.

The actor also spoke about the role of luck in success, stating that hard work accounted for only 30% of a person’s achievements, while luck contributed 70%. Reflecting on his own career, Akshay expressed hope for his upcoming 2025 releases to perform better at the box office, acknowledging his recent struggle with theatrical hits.  

Akshay's upcoming film Sky Force is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and also stars Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur. Fans are eagerly anticipating the movie, which marks Veer Pahariya’s debut in Bollywood.
