Triptii Dimri Exits Aashiqui 3, Film Faces Indefinite Delay
Reports suggest, the much-anticipated third installment of the Aashiqui franchise has hit an unexpected roadblock as actor Triptii Dimri has exited the project, and its production has been postponed indefinitely.
According to recent reports, the highly anticipated Aashiqui 3, set to feature Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri, has been indefinitely postponed following Dimri’s exit from the project. Production delays and creative differences have left the film’s fate hanging in uncertainty, with reports suggesting multiple reasons for the sudden change.
The recent report from Mid-Day suggests that Triptii Dimri, who was set to reunite with Kartik Aaryan under the direction of Anurag Basu, is no longer a part of Aashiqui 3. The film, initially announced over two years ago, has faced multiple delays, including title disputes and production changes. The film's producer, Bhushan Kumar, had renamed the project Tu Aashiqui Hai, but sources reveal Kartik was eager to retain its connection to the iconic Aashiqui banner.
Reports present conflicting reasons for Triptii Dimri's departure. On one hand, insiders told Mid-Day that the actor voluntarily stepped away due to repeated production delays. On the other hand, another industry source suggested that the filmmakers decided to replace her. They reportedly felt that her image no longer aligned with the "innocence" required for the female lead of a soulful romantic film like Aashiqui.
Another insider claimed that Triptii Dimri’s recent roles, including her work in Animal, contributed to her not fitting the bill. The source added that her recent films didn’t create enough buzz, and her box-office standing wasn’t deemed profitable for the project.
The Future Of Aashiqui 3
While fans were eagerly awaiting the revival of the franchise, these setbacks have stalled production. Triptii Dimri’s departure and the film’s indefinite delay suggest challenges in maintaining the legacy of the 2013 hit Aashiqui 2.
Director Anurag Basu and Kartik Aaryan, however, have decided to move on to another untitled project. Sources reveal that the new love story, also produced by Bhushan Kumar, is set to begin filming later this month or in early February. Casting for the female lead is currently underway.
