Aaryan’s Aashiqui 3 In Limbo: Triptii Dimri’s Exit, Sharvari’s Possible Inclusion
Confusion surrounds Aashiqui 3 as Triptii Dimri exits and Sharvari's inclusion remains unclear. Producer Bhushan Kumar faces legal battles over franchise rights.
The highly anticipated film Aashiqui 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, has been surrounded by confusion and controversy since its announcement. Initially, the movie was expected to be a sequel to the iconic Aashiqui franchise, known for its romantic appeal and unforgettable music. However, recent developments have left fans in suspense as the project faces multiple changes.
In March 2024, Bhushan Kumar, the producer of the film, revealed that he would be producing the movie solo, with an alleged new title: Tu Aashiqui Hai. Despite this shift, Kartik reportedly expressed his desire to keep the film connected to the Aashiqui franchise, creating uncertainty about the film's direction. The situation escalated in January 2025, when rumors began circulating that Triptii Dimri, who was initially cast as the female lead, had been dropped from the project.
According to these rumors, the decision to remove Triptii stemmed from her more mature and sensual image portrayed in previous films like Animal and Bad Newzz. Sources claimed that the filmmakers were seeking a more "pure, innocent" look for the female protagonist, which they felt Triptii’s recent roles did not align with. However, a source close to Triptii strongly denied these claims, stating that the rumors were false and the film was not even in development. This source suggested that the rumors might have been deliberately spread by someone involved with the film to ensure Triptii’s exit.
Despite the confusion, a production insider confirmed that Aashiqui 3 is currently postponed, with the team working on another love story instead. Filming for this new project is expected to begin soon, but the search for the female lead continues. While there were speculations that actress Sharvari might replace Triptii, another source clarified that Sharvari is not currently associated with any T-Series projects.
In the midst of these casting changes, veteran producer Mukesh Bhatt, who originally created the Aashiqui franchise, emphasized his legal control over the series. Mukesh recently stated that T-Series could not move forward with Aashiqui 3 without his approval, citing a court ruling that favored his stance. As per the Delhi High Court's verdict, T-Series is prohibited from using the Aashiqui title, or any variations like Tu Hi Aashiqui or Tu Hi Aashiqui Hai, without Mukesh’s consent.
As of now, fans are left waiting for clarity on the future of Aashiqui 3, with the franchise's fate hanging in the balance due to legal hurdles and casting uncertainties.
