Kajol On Dealing With Trolls And Impact Of Social Media

Set to premiere on Netflix on October 25, Do Patti features Kajol as a determined cop and Kriti Sanon making her way as a producer.

As we celebrated 26 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai recently, I couldn’t help but take a trip down memory lane to when social media was just starting to make waves. I shared a nostalgic post on Instagram about the film, realizing that back then, neither we nor the stars had the kind of online presence we do today. Fast forward to now, and Bollywood diva Kajol—who, let’s be honest, is the heart and soul of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai—recently opened up about her thoughts on social media and the challenges that come with it.

In a conversation at The Indian Express, Kajol discussed the tough realities of social media trolling and the pressures of being in the public eye. With her upcoming film Do Patti on the horizon, she emphasized that the glamorous photos we see online often mask the hard work behind them.

Kajol expressed her gratitude for having lived a life before social media, sharing that she only joined the platform six years ago. She pointed out that what fans see is just a quick snapshot of her life. Kajol explained that although people see her red carpet photos, they often don’t realize that the efforts and time she puts into those photos go unnoticed by many. Most people fail to see the reality of her waking up at 5 a.m. to get ready, coming back home at 11:30 p.m. worn out, and then heading back to work the next day.

It’s a reality check for everyone, reminding us that being a celebrity means putting in relentless effort and dealing with both good and bad days. “We work as hard as everyone else, and yet, when you post, you’re smiling,” she added, and honestly, it’s a reminder we all need sometimes.

Delving deeper into the complexities of fame, Kajol talked about the mixed blessings of public love and criticism. She noted that when people adore you, they sometimes feel entitled to criticize you just as fiercely. While she doesn’t agree with this mindset, she understands that public figures have to navigate these tricky waters. “I won’t say that they’re right, but we have to deal with that,” she shared, shedding light on the emotional challenges that come with fame.

Fans (including us!) are eagerly looking forward to seeing Kajol shine in Do Patti, where she stars as a cop alongside Kriti Sanon, who is making her debut as a producer. Set to premiere on Netflix on October 25, this film promises to be another exciting addition to Kajol's impressive repertoire, and we can’t wait to cheer her on!
