Laxman Utekar Refused to Shoot Chhaava Until Vicky Kaushal Met THIS Condition

Vicky Kaushal recently spoke about his upcoming film Chhaava, calling it the most physically demanding role of his career. He revealed that director Laxman Utekar was determined to maintain authenticity and refused to begin filming until Kaushal had undergone a complete physical transformation.

In an interview with Radio Nasha, Kaushal shared that he had to gain 25 kg of muscle over seven months to fit the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Along with building his physique, he had to master skills like horse riding, sword fighting, and combat techniques. The director insisted that no VFX would be used for these aspects, ensuring a raw and realistic cinematic experience.

Kaushal also explained that he had to grow his hair and beard while preparing for the character. He highlighted the large-scale production, mentioning that when audiences see 2,000 people in a scene, they are real actors on set. The film included 2,000 junior artists and 500 of the country’s best stunt performers.

Akshaye Khanna plays Aurangzeb in Chhaava, and Kaushal admitted that he was shocked when he first saw his co-star’s transformation. He recalled seeing Khanna’s look for the first time and being completely taken aback, describing his portrayal as intense and convincing.

Rashmika Mandanna stars as Maharani Yesubai, the wife of Sambhaji Maharaj. Chhaava is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Meanwhile, Kaushal will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
