Ram Gopal Varma Reflects On Amitabh’s Trust In Aag , SS Rajamouli’s Honest Feedback

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma opens up about Amitabh Bachchan's trust during RGV Ki Aag and SS Rajamouli questioning his creative choices. He reflects on his career missteps and vows redemption with his next ambitious project, Syndicate.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) recently discussed Amitabh Bachchan's trust in him during the making of RGV Ki Aag and the criticism he received from filmmaker SS Rajamouli regarding his creative choices.

RGV shared in an interview with Galatta Plus that Amitabh Bachchan trusted his vision for the 2007 remake of Sholay, despite the film's eventual failure. He explained that Bachchan never questioned his decisions, likely due to the credibility RGV had built as a director with successful films like Satya and Rangeela. RGV believed Bachchan assumed he was creating a new interpretation of the classic film.

Reflecting on his career missteps, RGV admitted that his failures, including Naach and RGV Ki Aag, stemmed from a lack of sincerity in his creative process. He recounted how SS Rajamouli once questioned why an intelligent filmmaker like him made such choices. RGV acknowledged being careless and often relying on shock value rather than genuine storytelling.

Recently, RGV expressed his commitment to improving his craft. In a post on X, he promised to move away from gimmicks and dedicate himself to meaningful cinema. He announced his upcoming project, Syndicate, describing it as his most ambitious work, aimed at redeeming his past cinematic missteps.
