Shah Rukh Khan Shares He Makes Grand Films For His Parents:

In a recent conversation at the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan talked about how he creates grand films as a way to honor his late parents, believing they watch over him from above.

Shah Rukh Khan recently opened up about why he’s always gravitated towards larger-than-life films, revealing that he does it for his parents, who he lost when he was young. During an interview on the Locarno Meets podcast at the Locarno Film Festival, he shared a heartfelt sentiment about his 2002 hit Devdas and why it meant so much to him. To be honest, we ourselves are still trying to get over the grandeur of Devdas. It's safe to say it is still the film we lose our minds over!

Talking about the film, Shah Rukh mentioned that after his parents passed away, he had this "childish" feeling that making massive films would somehow allow his mom and dad to watch them from heaven. “I always felt like if I made these big films, my mom and dad could see them from above,” he said, adding that he still thinks of his mom as a star in the sky. "I even know which one she is," SRK said with a smile. Shah Rukh Khan’s deep love for his family is no secret, and time and again, he’s shown how dedicated he is to being the most important figure in their lives.

Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was a game-changer back in 2002—an epic film with a jaw-dropping budget of ₹50 crore, the most expensive Indian film at the time. It became a huge success, both critically and commercially, just like many of Shah Rukh’s other iconic films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Ra.One, and his recent action thrillers Jawan and Pathaan. If you loved the grandeur of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, just wait till you see where it all started! The jaw-dropping sets, the gorgeous costumes, and of course, the dream cast—Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit; make Devdas an absolute classic and one of the best films of that era.

Fans are already buzzing about his next big project, where he's rumored to join forces with his daughter Suhana Khan for Sujoy Ghosh’s King. Looks like the King Khan isn’t slowing down anytime soon!
