The film, directed by Amar Kaushik, was described as a major addition to Maddock’s cinematic universe, and the production team was keen to cast Khan in a lead role. However, insiders shared that he expressed a preference for working on fresh projects rather than stepping into an established franchise. Khan reportedly encouraged Vijan and Kaushik to approach him with a unique concept in an unexplored genre, leaving them to consider other options for the project.

It was also revealed that Chamunda was one of many ideas Dinesh Vijan had pitched to Shah Rukh Khan. Despite their creative differences for this film, the team remains optimistic about working with the actor on future ventures.

In the meantime, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, which also stars Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. The film is set to begin production in March 2025 and wrap up by mid-2025. Additionally, plans for Pathaan 2 under Aditya Chopra’s direction are expected to kick off by late 2025 or early 2026.

On the other hand, Alia Bhatt is occupied with several projects, including Alpha alongside Sharvari and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
