Woaw!
Subhash Ghai reveals plans for Aitraaz 2 with a new-generation cast, excluding Priyanka Chopra's iconic role. The sequel promises a fresh take on the 2004 classic.
The wait is on for Aitraaz 2, but fans hoping to see Priyanka Chopra reprise her iconic role might be disappointed. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has confirmed that the sequel to the 2004 hit Aitraaz will feature a new-generation cast, marking a fresh chapter for the story.
Fresh Faces For The Sequel
Speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Ghai explained that 20 years had passed since the release of Aitraaz, and the gap called for a contemporary take with younger actors. He mentioned that the film needed to be made with today’s contemporary artists and a new-generation cast. While Priyanka Chopra will not return, Ghai assured fans that the film will bring something fresh and exciting to the table.
Script Ready, Cast Pending
The sequel’s script has been written by Amit Rai, known for Oh My God 2, but the cast is still being finalized. Ghai mentioned that several studios are eager to collaborate, and an official announcement will be made in the next few months once the story and cast are locked. The 2004 film Aitraaz, directed by Abbas-Mustan, featured Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Priyanka’s portrayal of the bold and manipulative antagonist became a standout moment in her career, earning widespread acclaim for her impactful performance.
While it’s bittersweet to let go of the original cast, Aitraaz 2 promises a fresh start with a modern twist. Subhash Ghai’s vision, combined with a strong script, has fans excited to see how this sequel will shape up.
