Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Suspect Detained After 30-Hour Manhunt; Actor Recovering Well
After an intensive 30-hour manhunt, Mumbai Police have detained the suspect in Saif Ali Khan's stabbing case.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital early on January 16 following a violent attack at his Bandra residence. Around 2 am, an intruder broke into the actor's home, leading to a scuffle during an alleged robbery attempt. Saif’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, transported his father to the hospital in an autorickshaw due to the absence of a driver.
Medical professionals revealed that Saif sustained severe injuries, including a knife lodged in his thoracic spinal cord. Dr. Nitin Dange, who treated him, confirmed that the actor underwent surgery to remove the knife and repair spinal fluid leakage. Additional deep wounds on Saif’s neck and hand were treated by a plastic surgery team. He is now stable and recovering well.
Mumbai police launched an extensive investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings indicated that the attacker entered Saif’s residence via the fire escape staircase. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam confirmed that the attack was an attempted burglary and that one suspect had been identified. Ten teams were deployed to track the accused.
Suspect Detained After 30-Hour Manhunt
In the latest update, Mumbai Police detained the main suspect on January 17 after a 30-hour search. The suspect was arrested near Bandra railway station after investigators identified him from CCTV footage. The footage showed a man wearing a brown collared T-shirt and red scarf, armed with a wooden stick and a hexa blade, descending a staircase near the crime scene.
Police suspect the man was attempting to flee towards Vasai Virar by train following the incident. The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning, though authorities have not yet confirmed whether he is the same individual who attacked Saif Ali Khan.
Saif’s team reassured fans that he is out of danger and recovering under close observation. The quick response from Ibrahim Ali Khan and the efforts of the medical team, combined with the swift actions of law enforcement, have brought the case closer to resolution.
