Fans of Lootera are in for a treat as the film is set to return to the big screen after nearly 12 years. The romantic period drama, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, originally released in 2013, has gained a dedicated following over the years. PVR Cinemas recently announced that the film will be re-released in theaters on March 7, 2025.

The announcement was made on February 19 through a collaborative Instagram post by PVR Cinemas. The post featured the movie’s poster with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, along with the caption inviting audiences to experience Lootera on the big screen once again.
Following the announcement, social media was filled with excitement from fans. Many expressed their joy at the opportunity to watch the film in theaters. Some commented that they had wished for this re-release, while others mentioned how they were ready to relive the film’s emotional journey.
Lootera is loosely inspired by O. Henry’s short story The Last Leaf and is set in the 1950s against the backdrop of the Zamindari Abolition Act. It tells the story of a con artist, played by Ranveer Singh, who poses as an archaeologist and falls in love with the daughter of a Bengali zamindar, portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha. The film takes a dramatic turn when his deception is exposed, and her health begins to decline.
Apart from Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, Lootera also stars Barun Chanda, Vikrant Massey, Arif Zakaria, Divya Dutta, and Adil Hussain in key roles. Known for its poetic storytelling, soulful music, and striking visuals, the film continues to be celebrated by cinephiles.
