Varun Dhawan recently clarified that his upcoming movie Baby John is not an exact remake of the 2016 Tamil hit Theri but rather an adaptation. In an interview, he shared that the story has been modified to fit its Bollywood setting. The film's action-filled trailer, released last week, highlights Varun as a fearless police officer and a loving father.

In an interview with India Today, Varun explained that director Atlee, famous for his work on Jawan, focused on adapting the story instead of recreating it exactly. Varun said that Atlee made changes to parts of the film, like its setting and storyline, to suit Hindi-speaking viewers. He added that anyone looking for a "scene-by-scene remake" of Theri might not find it, as the movie reimagines the original rather than duplicating it.
The actor elaborated that the adaptation brings fresh angles and new frames to the story. He clarified that the film is not running away from its inspiration but is reimagined to create something unique. Directed by Kalees, Baby John also marks Atlee's debut as a Hindi film producer.

The movie is an action drama where Varun plays a police officer and single father who fights fiercely to protect his daughter. A powerful moment in the trailer shows him declaring, "Mere jaise bohot aaye honge, main pehli baar aaya hoon" (Many like me may have come before, but I am here for the first time), hinting at the grit and intensity of his character.
Baby John promises a fresh take on the themes of family and justice, blending emotional depth with thrilling action. Fans of the original Tamil film and new audiences alike are eager to see how this adaptation unfolds.
