Jacqueline Fernandez Denies Knowledge Of Gifts Linked To Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s Crimes
Jacqueline Fernandez denies being involved in money laundering, claiming she was unaware the gifts from Sukesh were linked to criminal activities.
Jacqueline Fernandez is disputing the charge sheet in the ongoing Rs 200 crore money laundering case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The Bollywood actress has claimed that she had no knowledge that the lavish gifts she received were linked to criminal activity. Her legal team argues that the gifts, allegedly purchased with money extorted from businesswoman Aditi Singh, were given to Jacqueline without her awareness of their illicit origins.
At a recent hearing in the Delhi High Court, Jacqueline’s lawyers emphasized that she was not involved in money laundering and didn’t know the source of the gifts. Senior advocate Siddharth Agrawal, defending her, acknowledged that while she might have overlooked the origin of the gifts, it wasn’t a criminal oversight. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that Jacqueline failed to verify a 2019 newspaper article about Sukesh, but her legal team insists that the article is not admissible evidence.
The court, however, had some tough questions. Justice Anish Dayal raised the issue of whether an adult has a responsibility to know where their gifts come from, setting the stage for further arguments on November 26.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that Fernandez didn’t check a 2019 newspaper article exposing Sukesh’s criminal activities, but her defense team insists the article isn’t solid enough to be used as evidence. They also suggest that Fernandez was misled by co-accused Pinky Irani, who portrayed Sukesh as a political fixer with powerful connections.
According to her lawyers, once Jacqueline read the article, she cut off communication with Sukesh and had no idea the gifts were connected to crime. They argue she was simply not involved in any illegal activities.
Meanwhile, Sukesh, who’s behind bars, hasn’t let his feelings for Jacqueline fade. He continues to send her letters, the latest revealing his plans to invest a jaw-dropping $135 million in a Hollywood studio dedicated to her. He’s even claimed that this idea came from none other than Donald Trump, whom he calls his “big brother.”
