The story follows Anuja as she faces a life-altering decision that could shape her family’s future.
In a statement shared by Variety, Priyanka expressed pride in being part of the impactful project. She called the film a "thought-provoking piece" that highlights the harsh realities millions of children face worldwide. Anuja was created in collaboration with Salaam Baalak Trust, a non-profit established by Mira Nair's family to assist street and working children. The production also involved Shine Global, known for Oscar-winning documentaries like War/Dance and Inocente, alongside Krushan Naik Films. Mindy Kaling joined the project as a producer, making it a collaborative effort with a global reach. For Guneet Monga Kapoor, Anuja could mark her third Oscar nomination. She previously won Academy Awards for The Elephant Whisperers and Period: End of Sentence, both of which earned international acclaim.
